So, you’ve successfully harvested honey from your hive somewhere in Kenyaβwhat comes next? Proper handling after extraction ensures high-quality, pure, and market-ready honey. Hereβs a step-by-step guide on how to process, filter, and package your honey for sale or personal use.
Step 1: Honey Extraction
Once you’ve removed the honey-filled frames from your hive, it’s time to extract the honey. Depending on your setup, you can use:

π Tools & Equipment:
Manual Honey Press β Ideal for small-scale beekeepers; crushes and presses honeycomb to extract honey.
Centrifuge Honey Extractor β Spins frames to extract honey efficiently.
Uncapping Knife or Fork β Removes wax caps from honeycomb.
π Tip: Work in a clean environment to prevent contamination!
Step 2: Straining & Filtering
After extraction, honey needs to be filtered to remove wax particles, bee parts, and debris.

Β Honey Double Sieve β A fine-mesh sieve to filter out impurities.
Cheesecloth or Nylon Filter Bag β For finer filtering.
π Tip: Avoid overheating honeyβit can destroy beneficial enzymes and reduce quality! Use a honey warmer!
Step 3: Settling & Removing Air Bubbles
After filtering, honey should rest for 24-48 hours in a honey settling tank. This allows air bubbles and tiny impurities to rise to the top. An you can package from the tap located at the bottom of your storage tank

Step 4: Packaging into 1KG honey Jars
Once your honey is clear and settled, it’s time to bottle it!

π Tip: Store filled jars in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maintain quality.

Step 5: Storage & Selling Your Honey
